The Old Fire Station

I had the pleasure of chatting to a lovely homeowner recently who lives in one of the beautiful turn of the century properties that you can still find in West Leederville. What started as a conversation about her very funky letterbox turned to a reflection on the history of the house and the suburb (which always appeals to my nostalgic streak!). Thank you for the pik and taking the time to share the insights, and also to the State Library of WA for permission to use the image below (taken by Louis Shapcott in c. 1914 entitled “Fire engine and uniformed firemen in front of the Leederville Fire Station, 65 Kimberley Street”).
